This story is a sequel to The Evil Genie.

A sequel means something that happens after the story of an earlier one.

翻开绘本，我们通读一下，不难发现，今天的故事，是上一个故事的续篇。

续篇 sequel，就是在先前的那个故事之后，接着上一个故事而发生的事情。

What happened in The Evil Genie?

上一个故事发生了什么呢？我们一起来回顾一下：

Biff, Kipper, Nadim, Floppy, Kamar and his father, oh, and the evil genie.

At first They were at home.

Then, they were in an adventure.

They landed on a tiny island.

At first, the children wanted to leave the tiny island.

Kamar saved them.

Kamar wanted to find his father.

At last, he met his father on a big island.

But, when the children left the tiny island.

They took a strange-looking bottle away.

They set an evil genie free.

Floppy frighten the genie at the first time.

But then, he was taken away by a big bird.

And the magic took the children home.

So，What problems are not solved?

Floppy was still in the adventure.

The evil genie were not put back into the bottle.

He would hurt people again.

What happened at the end of the story?

The children wanted to go back.

But the magic key didn't glow.

The last magic adventure had gone wrong.

Floppy had been left behind.

A giant bird had flown off with him.

上一次魔法冒险出错了。

Floppy 被落下了。

一只巨鸟和他一起飞走了。

This was because a horrid genie had escaped from a bottle.

"And it was all my fault, "said Biff.

这是因为一个可怕的妖怪从瓶子里逃了出来。

Biff 说：这都是我的错。

fault 就是 “过错” 的意思

It's all my fault.

都是我的错，这句话还蛮常用的。

Why did Biff say it's all her fault?

Because she untie the bottle from the tree.

And set the genie free.

"We've got to rescue Floppy, "said Chip.

"We must go back into the adventure."

Chip 说：我们要去营救 Floppy。

我们必须回到冒险中去。

"But we can't make the key glow, "said Biff.

"I know, " said Chip, "but we must try.

We have to find a way to get the genie back in the bottle."

Biff 说：但是我们不能让钥匙发光。

Chip 说：我知道，但我们必须试一试。

我们必须找到一种方法让妖怪回到瓶子里。

find a way, 找到方法

这里的 way 是 “方法” 的意思

Biff and Chip looked at the magic key.

"Oh, if only it would glow, "said Biff.

Biff 和 Chip 看着神奇的钥匙。

哦，要是它能发光就好了。

Then the magic key did begin to glow.

这里的 did 是起强调的作用，我们可以读重音。

Then the magic key did begin to glow.

然后，神奇的钥匙开始发光。

The magic took the children back into the last adventure.

魔法把孩子们带回到最后的冒险中。

last 通常是 “最后” 的意思，比如说 at last 到最后

而这里，last 是 “上一个，上一次” 的意思

last adventure 上一个冒险

last month 上个月

last week 上星期

last day 上一天，也就是昨天

Where did the magic take them?

The magic took them to an island.

Biff had been there before.

魔法把他们带到一个岛上。

Biff 以前去过那里。

It wasn't the tiny island.

It was the island where the giant bird had flown away with Floppy.

这是那只巨鸟和 Floppy 地飞走的地方。

Kamar was still there.

He was with his father, Hassan.

Kamar 仍在。

他和父亲 Hassan 在一起。

What were they doing?

Hassan and Kamar were mending their boat.

Hassan 和 Kamar 正在修船。

Kamar ran to meet them.

"You have come back! "he said to Biff. "Where have you been?"

"You wouldn't believe it, "said Biff, "even if we told you."

Kamar 跑过去迎接他们。

他对 Biff 说：你回来！你去哪儿了？

Biff 说：说了你也不会相信的，即使我们告诉你。

在这里，我想简单的讲一下 “完成时”，很多小伙伴会有疑问

You have come back!

Where have you been?

have 这个助动词，用来表示 “时”，

现在？过去？还是将来？

在牛津树里，因为是讲故事，一般都会用过去时，

但是在人物的对话里，用的是现在时，

所以这里用的是 have，现在时。

这里的 come 和 been 都是过去分词。

完成时里的过去分词，是用来表示 “态” 的。

用来表明，这个动作已经完成了。

这样说可以能有点复杂了，爸爸妈妈们可以先理解一下。

那小朋友只要知道 完成时态 本质思维，就是用来回顾的。

也就是说：站在现在时间的角度，回顾过去。

放到绘本里，

You have come back!

你（已经）回来啦！（离开后，回来了）

Where have you been?

你去了哪里？（说话人在这里，回顾过去）

"The giant bird took him up to the top of that mountain."

" I know, "said Biff, "and that's where we're going.

We must get up there as fast as we can."

Biff 说：我知道，这就是我们要去的地方。

我们必须尽快赶到那里。

"Stop!" shouted Kamar. "Don't go!

Have you forgotten about the evil genie?"

Kamar 喊道：站住，不要走！

你忘了那个邪恶的妖怪了吗？

"We'll worry about him later, "said Chip.

Chip 说：我们以后会担心他的。

We don't have time to worry about that.

Floppy was in dangerous.

We had to rescue him.

Biff and Chip went as fast as they could, but it was hard work.

They had to climb over big rocks.

At last they came to the mountain.

Biff was tired.

She sat on a rock for a rest.

Biff 和 Chip 走得尽可能快，

但这是一项艰苦的事情。

他们不得不爬过大岩石。

最后他们来到了山上。

Biff 累了。

她坐在一块岩石上休息。

Oh, It was hard work.

I'm so tired.

I need to have a rest.

The mountain looked steep and rocky.

steep 陡峭的 rocky 很多岩石的

"How can we climb up?" asked Biff.

Biff 问：我们怎么爬上去呢？

Then Chip found a dried up stream.

"Come on, "called Chip."This gully looks an easy way up."

然后 Chip 发现了一条干涸的山沟。

Chip说：来吧，这条山沟看起来像一条新路。

Biff and Chip began to climb up the gully.

Suddenly there was a loud noise and a terrible smell.

Biff 和 Chip 开始向沟里爬去。

突然传来一声巨响和一股可怕的气味。

Guess what happened？

It was the evil genie.

He was standing at the top of the gully.

是那可怕的妖怪。

他站在沟的顶端。

"Ha! I can soon get rid of you, "he shouted.

get rid of 摆脱，赶走

他喊道：哈！我可以很快赶走你们的。

What did the genie do?

The genie clapped his hands.

妖怪拍了拍手。

Then, What happened?

Water began to gush down the gully.

gush 喷出，涌出

水开始从沟里涌出。

Biff and Chip had no time to climb out.

The water rushed towards them.

Biff 和 Chip 没有时间爬出来。

水向他们冲来。

"Quickly, Biff! Climb on to this rock and hang on, "shouted Chip.

Chip 喊道：快，Biff！爬上这块石头，抓牢了。

Oh, no!

The stream was fast and dangerous.

Would they be washed away?

What will happen next?
