Look at Biff, She was in a shop.

She looked at a coin.

That might be her pocket money.

What do you think Biff is going to spend her pocket money on?

你觉得 Biff 想用她的零花钱买什么呢？

The family are on a camping holiday.

Will Dad's plan to get everyone to share the jobs work?

Dad wanted a meeting.

爸爸想要开一个会议。会议 meeting

What's the meeting for?

What did Dad want to tell everyone?

Dad came with a list.

" I have had a good idea," he said.

Chip groaned.

" I don't like the sound of this,"he said.

爸爸说：我有个好主意。

Chip 抱怨着，抱怨 groan

他说：我不喜欢听到这个。

Dad had a big piece of paper.

" I don't like the look of it, either,"said Biff.

爸爸有一张大纸。

Biff 说：我也不喜欢它的样子。

When they saw the big piece of paper, the children didn't think there would be a good idea.

They smelled trouble.

" It's no fun on holiday," went on Dad, "if Mum and I do all the work."

"That's true," said Mum." There are still lots of jobs to be done."

Yes, indeed!

Look at the table, there were lots of dishes to be washed.

"This is where my idea comes in," said Dad.

What was Dad holding?

A chart.

on the top of the chart, That's the children's name.

Biff, Chip and Kipper

and on the left of the chart,

helping cook 帮助做饭

washing up 洗碗

laying table 铺桌子

tidying 打扫

walking Floppy 遛Floppy

Fetching the milk 取牛奶

odd jobs 其他杂活

That was a chart of jobs.

是一张家庭工作列表。

What's the use of the chart?

"This is the pocket money chart."

这是零花钱图。

Biff, Chip and Kipper looked at the chart.

It had their names on it next to a list of jobs.

Biff、Chip 和 Kipper 看了看图表。

" The idea is that everyone has to help!"said Dad." It's brilliant!"

" But why is it called a pocket money chart?"asked Kipper.

Dad tapped the chart.

" If you do the jobs without a fuss, "he said,"you get extra pocket money."

fuss 就是 (因为小事) 大吵大闹，大发牢骚

Mum liked the idea.

" You need extra pocket money on holiday,"she said.

" I suppose so, "said Biff.

妈妈喜欢这个主意。

她说：度假的时候，你们会需要额外的零花钱的。

Biff 说：我想是的 I suppose so。

What did Biff want to buy?

And What did the children do?

So Biff washed up and Kipper dried.

Chip took Floppy for a walk.

所以呢，Biff 洗了衣服，Kipper 把它晒干。

Chip 带着 Floppy 散步。

Dad blew up the beds with a pump.

爸爸用泵给床充气。

blew up 在这里是 “充气” 的意思，给气球充气，给轮胎充气，都是 blew up（blow up 的过去式）

" I like the idea of this pocket money chart,"said Mum.

" I don't, "said Kipper.

妈妈说：我喜欢这张零花钱表格的主意。”

“我不喜欢，”Kipper说。

Why didn't Kipper like the idea of the pocket money chart?

Because, He didn't want to do jobs on holiday.

Maybe he didn't need extra money.

Do you ever get pocket money?

为什么 Kipper 不喜欢爸爸的这个主意呢？

The next day they went to the beach.

It was cold and windy so nobody wanted to sit on the sand.

第二天他们去了海滩。

Look at Mum, She folded her arms around her chest.

She was shaking. "Oh, I'm cold."

What did Kipper and Floppy do?

Mum and Kipper played with Floppy.

He chased a ball into the sea.

妈妈、Kipper 在和 Floppy 玩，

Floppy 把球追到海里去了。

What about Biff, Chip and Dad?

Biff, Chip and Dad went to look for shells.

Biff，Chip 和 爸爸去找贝壳。

What did Biff find?

A big shell or a stone?

Biff looked along the beach for shells.

She picked up a strange-looking rock.

Biff 在海滩上寻找贝壳。

她拾起一块奇形怪状的石头。

" Look at this, "she called. "It's a rock with a spiral pattern in it."

She showed it to Chip.

" It looks like a shell made of rock, "he said.

Biff 喊道：看看这个，这是一块带有螺旋图案的岩石。

Chip 说：它看起来像一个岩石做成的贝壳。

So，What is it？

Dad and Mum came to see what was it.

"You've found a fossil," said Dad.

What was a fossil?

"Once it was a shellfish. Now it has turned into a rock."

它曾经是贝壳，现在它变成了一块石头。

A fossil is the hard remains of a prehistoric animal or plant that are found inside a rock.

They showed it to Mum.

" It's millions of years old, "she said.

" Millions of years!" said Biff. "That's amazing.."

他们把化石拿给妈妈看。

Then，

They all began to look for fossils.

Chip found a broken one.

他们都开始寻找化石。

Biff liked looking for fossils.

She wanted to find a really good one.

Biff 喜欢寻找化石。

" It's time for supper," said Mum. "Come on!Let's go back to the campsite."

On the way back they stopped at a shop.

Biff, Chip and Kipper had time to look round.

Biff saw some fossils for sale.

"This one is amazing," she said. "But it's very expensive."

"Well, it is millions of years old, "said Chip.

"I'll need the extra pocket money to afford this, "said Biff.

So why did Biff wanted extra pocket money?

Because she wanted to buy a fossil.
