The big breakfast

Do you think this story takes place in the real world, or in the adventure?

Now we turn back to the back cover.

The magic key takes the children back to a time when making breakfast is very different.

So, what will happen in the story?

Let's open the book and turn to page 1

"Ding, ding! Ding, ding!"

Dad came into Chip's room.

“叮,叮!叮,叮!”

爸爸走进 Chip 的房间。

What was dad doing?

He was ringing a bell.

他正在摇着铃。

Chip sat up in his bed.

Chip 坐在他的床上。

But he looked sleepy.

He didn't want to get up.

"It's time to get up." said Dad.

"Mum's away and we have lots of housework to do."

“该起床了。”爸爸说。

“妈妈不在家，我们有很多家务要做。”

In your home, who wakes you up every morning?

Your mum，or your dad？

Or you just set the clock by yourself？

Anyway I don't think they will ring a bell.

Dady was funny.

Did the children get up?

Dad rang the bell on the stairs.

"Time to get up!" he said.

爸爸在楼梯上继续摇铃。

他说：“该起床啦！”

"Do we have to?" asked Biff.

"It's the weekend."

Biff 问道：“我们必须这样做吗？这是周末。”

Why did Dad want them to get up early？

To go to the school?

To do some homework?

No.

What did Dad want them to do?

Why did Dad wake up them so early?

"Yes," said Dad. "Mum gets back tonight.

The house is a mess. We must tidy up."

爸爸说：“是的，妈妈今晚会回来。

这房子太乱了，我们必须收拾。”

Dad wanted to tidy up before Mum came back.

Dad wanted the children to help.

Is that a good idea?

"I suppose so," yawned Chip.

Chip 打着哈欠说：“我想是吧。”

yawn 打哈欠

"I suppose so." means "I think so."

That means "那好吧~"

"Good. I'll prepare breakfast," said Dad.

爸爸说：“很好，我要准备早餐。”

Is everything ok?

The children came down for breakfast.

孩子们下来吃早饭。

"Bad news," said Dad. "The milk has gone off.

I've burnt the toast and we've run out of juice.

I'm sorry."

爸爸说：“有个坏消息，牛奶坏了。

我把面包烤焦了，我们的果汁用完了。

我很抱歉。”

"Oh no!" said Kipper. "I'm hungry!"

Kipper 说：“哦,不！我好饿！”

The children were hungry.

They wanted to have some breakfast before tidy up the house.

"We'll have to go to the supermarket," said Dad.

"We need some more food ."

爸爸说:“我们得去超市，我们还需要一些食物。”

"I've got a better idea," said Chip.

"Let's have breakfast in cafe."

Chip 说：“我有一个更好的主意，

我们去咖啡馆吃早餐吧。”

Do you think that was a good idea?

Yes, I do.

Why did the children have breakfast in a cafe?

The milk had gone off.

Dad had burnt the toast and they had run out of juice.

They had to get more food.

But the children were hungry now.

So, What will they do?

Dad took the children to the cafe.

"You can eat what you like," said Dad.

"Then we'll do the shopping."

爸爸说：“你们想吃什么就吃什么吧，

吃完就去买东西。”

"Hurray!" said Kipper.

"I'm going to have a big breakfast."

Kipper 说：“万岁！我要吃一顿丰盛的早餐。”

Wow! There were lots of food.

And there were lots of people.

What would the children like for the breakfast?

"I'd like blueberry pancakes," said Biff.

Biff 说：“我想要一些蓝莓煎饼。”

"I want eggs ," said Kipper.

Kipper 说：“我要一些鸡蛋。”

"Why not have a kipper ,Kipper?"said Chip.

"Only if you have chips,Chip!"said Kipper.

Chip 和 Kipper 拿各自的名字开起了玩笑。

Kipper 是一种 “烟熏鲱鱼”

Chips 是 “薯条” 的意思

Chip 开玩笑说：“为什么不要一个 Kipper 腌鱼 呢？”

Kipper 也说道：“你为什么不来一个 Chips 炸薯条 呢？

At home, Dad told the children to start their jobs.

回到家后，爸爸告诉孩子们，要开始做家务了。

"I'll put the shopping away," he said.

"You go and tidy your rooms.

That big breakfast should give you lots of energy."

他说：“我要把这些买的东西都拿走。

你们去收拾你们的房间。

那份丰盛的早餐应该会给你很多能量。”

What did Floppy want to do?

He wanted to have a walk.

The children went to Biff's room.

The children looked at the mess.

孩子们看着那乱糟糟的一团。

Biff began to tidy her room.

How about Chip and Kipper?

"Let's tidy up later," said Chip.

"I'm so full, I can't move!"

Chip 说：“我太饱了，动不了！”

What was Kipper doing?

He was playing with the teddy bear.

That big breakfast didn't give them lots of energy.

It just made them lazy.

What did Floppy want to do?

He wanted to have a walk.

But now, What did he think?

"No chance of a walk then," thought Floppy.

Floppy 心想：“那就不可能出去走走了。”

Just then the magic key began to glow.

就在这时，魔法钥匙开始发光。

What will happen next?
